Antenatal Classes are facilitated at University Hospital Galway which aim to prepare you and your partner for pregnancy, labour and parenthood. You are invited to attend a course of your choice. We look forward to meeting you and being part of your exciting journey.
Are you 20 weeks pregnant or less?
Why not come to our early pregnancy class where you can get advice on all aspects of pregnancy. There will be a Midwife, Dietitian and Physiotherapist present at the session and they are available to answer your questions.
This class is for mothers who have had babies already
Topics include signs and stages of labour, breathing exercises and relaxation; options of pain relief and breastfeeding are discussed. There is also a tour of the labour ward.
for Labour and Parenthood
It is best to attend this programme of three antenatal classes when you are 7 months pregnant. Classes are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at different times in the Maternity Outpatients Department.
Post Natal Education
Available in hospital following the birth of your baby
These sessions are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11am on St. Angela’s Ward and is followed by an optional (4-6 week postnatal) reunion class. Postnatal Physiotherapy is also available every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11:15am in St. Angela’s Ward.
